A while ago I brought you an article on what had to be the ugliest car… in the world.
We’re talking about the Mitsuoka Onochi — the article included a video of legendary automotive presenter James May driving one.
Jezza to James May, “Hold my beer.”
Now the latest episode of The Grand Tour has Jeremy Clarkson scampering all over eastern Europe in a car that’s giving the Onochi a run for its money — possibly out uglying the Orochi. Turns out both cars are made by Mitsuoka.
Coincidence?
Jeremy’s car, the Mitsuoka Le-Seyde is based on the Nissan Silvia S13. Just 500 units were manufactured in 1990ish. All 500 units were sold in just four days. Shocking, I know.
The most recent sale I could find was a 1991 Le-Seyde listed on Doug DeMuro’s Cars & Bids that sold for $14,250 in March of 2020. Pandemic bargain of the century?
No doubt the publicity from The Grand Tour will drive prices higher. Truth be told, I have a soft spot for both the Orochi and the Le-Seyde.

Looks like Bruce Wayne's car when he wants to low-key signal that he's actually Batman.
